Q: Describe a person who you think wears unusual clothes.

A: I’m going to tell you about my history teacher at university. You know, he was, and still is, a bit of an eccentric ([ɪkˈsentrɪk] 古怪的), especially when it comes to clothes. I would say his clothes are unconventional ([ˌʌnkənˈvenʃənl] 非传统的), to say the least. Many students think he is just weird([wɪəd] 奇怪的/不寻常的/诡异的).

To be honest, he doesn’t seem to care what others think of his taste in clothes. I actually think he sees himself as being quite fashionable. So let me try to describe his rather offbeat style to you. For starters, he always wears odd colour socks.

This must be on purpose, because I can’t see how he could wear mismatching socks everyday, it were by accident. Next, his trousers always seem to be too short, that’s how you notice his socks, and more often than not, he wears bracers rather than a belt. Maybe because he is rather stout([staʊt] 结实的/矮胖的) and chubby([ˈtʃʌbi] 圆胖的/丰满的). Unfortunately, it makes him look a bit like a clown([klaʊn] 小丑).

Finally, he tends to spot flamboyant([flæmˈbɔɪənt] 艳丽的) shirts with complex patterns and bright colours. For me, his clothes don’t really match, I mean the colours don’t go well together, if I’m honest. But he seems very comfortable and at ease in what I whould call very quirky([‘kwɜkɪ] 诡诈的/离奇的) attire([əˈtaɪər] 服装).
